What if Starbucks Marketed Like a Church?

Blogged by Antwon Davis On 3:07 PM

I found this video on blog that I think I'm gonna spend some time looking into. The post was rather interesting and I thought it was worth putting on the blog. Makes you think about how weird and ineffective the Church has been in engaging the culture.

Great conversation-starter.

What are your thoughts?

Wow! In this video I saw every aspect of the church in it, its amazing how gimmicy church can be. The visitors just wanted coffee, and they barely got it, at least enough to enjoy it anyway...What must be changed?

    I so agree.

I think if people were more authentic, transparent... basically real... then a lot of that silly stuff would seem just that... silly.

I think many Christians hold on to the churchy gimmicks because that was how they were taught to engage God and others (sadly). It's sad, but many people have adopted odd Christian habits and jargon not because it's Biblical, but because it's "familiar".

I am convinced that one of my life-long objectives and assignments is to mess with Christians in effort to get them to "think". You'd be surprised how many Christians are living off of programmed memory rather than wisdom and insight. It's hard to get a car to start when the battery is dead.
